About Us

Group Of Teenage Friends Having Fun In Park Smiling At Camera

New Foundations Home For Children is a private,  nonprofit agency specializing in caring for emotionally troubled adolescents and families.

We provide an array of programs to keep youth connected with their families.  This includes:

  • Prevention and stabilization while youth are still in the home

  • Group care, therapeutic and non-therapeutic foster care, and counseling for adolescents taken out of their homes due to safety concerns.

  • Counseling services to help youth return back to the home after the family has received services.

Our History

More than forty-five years ago, a group of community leaders led by a local family court judge founded, what was then, the Youth Treatment Center for Boys.  It began as a small non-profit residential setting on County Home Road in Anderson, South Carolina in 1974.  The organization grew to become Anderson Youth Association, and a home for girls was added in 1976.  Since that time, services have grown, focusing on prevention and intervention as well, creating a true continuum of care for children and families.

In 2000, Anderson Youth Association became New Foundations Children & Family Services, Inc.  We continued under that name for almost 10 years until we reached back to our roots and officially changed our name to New Foundations Home for Children. Since our inception, thousands of children and families have been helped, not only through our Group Homes, but now also through our Foster Care and In-Home support services.

As a testament to our mission New Foundations has continuously earned national accreditation through the Council on Accreditation for Children and Families (COA). Since 1995 we have engaged in COA in-depth reviews every four years. These reviews focus on our services, administration, and community Board oversight. The process takes 12-18 months and involves staff in every program and at all levels, our Board of Directors, and community stakeholders. COA recognizes NFHFC as an organization successfully implementing high performance standards and delivering the highest quality of services.  For more on the Council on Accreditation, please visit https://coanet.org/home/.

We are relentless in our pursuit to keep children safe, strengthen families, and provide needed treatment interventions.  The staff and volunteers of New Foundations believe that this is the very framework by which the agency was built, and we will continue to do our part to honor so many that have dedicated their time, energy, and efforts in helping the children and families of South Carolina.  We will continue to be faithful to our mission to “Secure the Future for Children and Families…Whatever it Takes!”

Our Mission

New Foundations will dedicate all of our resources, skills, and compassion to improve the lives of children and families.

Our Vision

It is our sincere goal to secure the future for children and families by doing whatever it takes to serve at-risk children and families. With that goal in mind, New Foundations offers both intervention and prevention services. Services include several programs of residential care as well as programs designed to work with children and families on an out-patient basis or in their home environments.
