Founded in 1974 as Anderson Youth Association, New Foundations Home for Children provides a safe, supportive, and nurturing continuum of services for children and families. We offer residential, foster, in-home, and transportation services based in Anderson, South Carolina and serving counties throughout the state.

New Foundations will dedicate all of our resources, skills, and compassion to improve the lives of children and families.

Our Vision

It is our sincere goal to secure the future for children and families by doing whatever it takes to serve at-risk children and families. With that goal in mind, New Foundations offers both intervention and prevention services. Services include several programs of residential care as well as programs designed to work with children and families on an out-patient basis or in their home environments.

Our Work

Our services include enhanced residential group care, foster care, in-home preventative services, and transportation.

Residential services are provided to children and youth, ages 10 to 21, in a structured, staff-intensive setting in Anderson County. Clients are referred by the Department of Social Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, and other state agencies. In addition to providing a safe and stable living environment, the program methods are strength-based, trauma-informed, and focused on wellbeing and family permanency. With older clients in residential care, there is an additional focus on independent living skills.

Our foster care and in-home services are community-based. In service to foster children, we recruit, license, and supervise foster homes to help create a nurturing and stable environment for children in need. We also provide in-home case management services to strengthen and preserve at risk families in our communities.

Since 1995, New Foundations has been nationally accredited through the Council on Accreditation for Children and Families (COA). We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

We are relentless in our pursuit to protect children, strengthen families, and provide assessment and treatment to all our clients. This is the foundation and future of our organization, and we will continue to secure the future for children and families…Whatever it Takes!

Our History

Fifty years ago, a group of community leaders led by a local family court judge, Michael Glenn, founded, what was then, the Youth Treatment Center for Boys.  It began as a small non-profit residential setting on County Home Road in Anderson, South Carolina in 1974.  The organization grew to become Anderson Youth Association, and a home for girls was added in 1976.  Since that time, services have grown, focusing on prevention and intervention as well, creating a true continuum of care for children and families.

In 2000, Anderson Youth Association became New Foundations Children & Family Services, Inc.  We continued under that name for almost 10 years until we reached back to our roots and officially changed our name to New Foundations Home for Children. Since our inception, thousands of children and families have been helped, not only through our Group Homes, but now also through our Foster Care and In-Home support services.

As a testament to our mission New Foundations has continuously earned national accreditation through the Council on Accreditation for Children and Families (COA). Since 1995, that accreditation has provided an independent and objective verification against standards of best practice. COA Accreditation, a service of Social Current, is our partner and we are proud to uphold a higher standard through that process. COA recognizes NFHFC as an organization successfully implementing high performance standards and delivering the highest quality of services.  For more on the Council on Accreditation, please visit their home page.

There is no lead car to follow and no instructor riding with you. Personal racing instructors communicate with you using 2-way radio racing electronics, as well as be your spotter, coaching you during the racing sessions and helping you achieve fast speeds safely. Passing is allowed — pass the slower cars as you catch them, putting the pedal to the metal and seeing if you have what it takes to be a NASCAR driver!
